A LOOK AT DANIEL -- chapter two.
/Hey friends!
I have been reading through the book of Daniel this month and I have the second instalment of my thoughts on chapter two! To get the most out of this blog post, I encourage you to read Daniel chapter 2 here first:
Here’s the summary of what’s happening in the story:
—> The King has a dream that is perplexing him and he calls on all of the “wisemen” of the day to try and interpret it. “Wise men” would have been like your modern day philosophers, astrologers, palm readers, etc…
—> None of them could tell the King his dream as they were NOT filled with the foresight or wisdom of God.
—> Daniel HAS relationship with God, seeks His face, puts God first & God has chosen to give HIM the wisdom & knowledge no one else had, to do what no one else could do.
—> The cool thing is, Daniel could have taken all the credit himself for his ability to tell the King what his dream was, and then interpret it— he could have built himself a kingdom of fame, fortune & popularity, but He gives all credit to GOD.
”No mere human can solve the king’s mystery, I don’t care who it is—no wise man, enchanter, magician, diviner. But there is a God in heaven who solves mysteries, and he has solved this one.”
I love that phrase… BUT THERE IS A GOD IN HEAVEN!
—> When nothing else is making sense, when we’ve looked everywhere for answers in our own strength, there’s always that assurance BUT THERE IS A GOD IN HEAVEN WHO CAN!
—> And what happens next is ultimately how God uses opportunities like these to draw people into relationship with Him (which is his ultimate desire, to know US and be in connection & relationship with US) The King actually bows down & says to Daniel…
“Your God is beyond question the God of all gods, the Master of all kings. And he solves all mysteries, I know, because you’ve solved this mystery.”
—> Not only does the King recognize who God is through this encounter, but He actually promotes Daniel to a higher position of leadership where Daniel is able to have even more impact & influence & lead others to know God!
RUBBER HITS THE ROAD TAKE A WAYS:
— God can use anyone who is willing & is humble & Obedient of heart.
— God gives us opportunities of influence in the world to ultimately bring people closer to Him, even if the “activity or role” has little to actually at face value have to do with spiritual things. For example, this was a dream interpretation.
— When we are faithful to give God the credit & be obedient to His promptings, greater opportunities follow.
I’d love to know what you take away from this chapter! If you enjoyed this, please share it on social or with a friend!
